Turning over the hull - part two

Turning over the hull

Turning over the hull

The hull is slowly turned over along the longitudinal axis. Here, you can get a good look at the inside.

Turning over the hull

Half-time

This is the critical stage because the hull is very instable in this position.

Made it !

The hull has now been turned over, however, now it has to be turned around and set down with the bow in the right direction.

Here, you can begin to see the dimensions of the interior.

Impression from below

While the hull is swinging in the air and being turned in the right direction you are provided with some interesting persepectives.

Turning over the hull - finishing stage

Firstly, the hull has to be set down again for a short while.

Setting down the hull

Before we can transport the hull back into the hall with our special vehicle, the hull is carefully placed down on matresses so that the cranes can be cleared away.

Quite high

Even when the hull is sitting flat on the ground, it is still impressively high.

Moving the hull

Finally, the hull is moved back into the hall.

In the case of very long yachts, this is a very time-consuming process.

View of the bow

Here, you can see the special reinforcements on the hull for attaching the shroud.

The hull is positioned vertically straight in the block, so that work on the inside can continue.

Insight

Some yacht owners would be happy to leave their yacht just the way it is now.

Through the visible bulkheads you can already recognise the arrangement of the searooms.

Tools

An array of different tools is used for the various types of woodwork.

Tools

Clamps

There is hardly any other tool that is used as often or for as many jobs in boat building.

Working on the yacht

Work

Work

We often have to sand particular parts into the right shape.

Marking

Anything which is over and above what it should be or which does not meet with our approval is measured and marked for sanding and planing.
